Corolla to nazwa legendarna, rozpoznawalna na całym świecie. Pomimo tego, Toyota postanowiła zrezygnować z niej na rzecz Aurisa. Po 13 latach Japończycy w końcu skończyli z eksperymentowaniem. W 2019 roku Toyota Corolla triumfalnie powróciła.
Dla ścisłości – Corolla zniknęła tylko częściowo. Od 2006 roku w Europie i na kilku innych rynkach hatchbacka nazywano Auris, natomiast sedan utrzymał nazwę Corolla. To jednak wystarczyło aby ta legendarna nazwa zatarła się w świadomości przeciętnego nabywcy, szczególnie w Europie, gdzie kompaktowe sedany dawno wypadły z łask. Wraz z dwunastą (!) generacją swojego kompaktu Toyota pożegnała się z Aurisem. Teraz jest prościej – wszystkie modele sprzedawane są jako Corolla. Chociaż nie było to od razu przesądzone, bo przedprodukcyjny model pokazany podczas targów w Genewie w 2018 roku nosił jeszcze nazwę Auris. Dopiero kilka miesięcy później ogłoszono powrót do Corolli.
Sprzedaż hatchbacka ruszyła latem 2018 roku w Japonii i Stanach Zjednoczonych. W Europie sprzedaż rozpoczęto na początku 2019 roku razem z pozostałymi wersjami nadwozia; kombi i sedanem. Każda z odmian ma nieco inny charakter. Hatchback jest najbardziej sportowy, kombi rodzinne a sedan – reprezentacyjny. Co ciekawe, wygląd sedana różni się trochę w zależności od rynku. W Afryce, Ameryce Południowej, Europie i na Bliskim Wschodzie przód przypomina wyglądem ten z Toyoty Camry, gdyż klienci na tych rynkach cenią bardziej prestiżowy wygląd. W Ameryce Północnej, Australii, Japonii i RPA przód jest podobny jak w hatchbacku i kombi, aby osiągnąć bardziej sportowy wygląd. Z kolei w Chinach dostępne są oba warianty.
Choć Corolla to samochód globalny, Toyota twierdzi że projektowała nową generację modelu z myślą o europejskich nabywcach. Firma położyła duży nacisk na poprawienie prowadzenia i atrakcyjny wygląd zarówno nadwozia jak i wnętrza -wszystko wedle zapowiedzi “no more boring cars”.
Samochód bazuje na platformie TNGA-C, wykorzystanej wcześniej w Priusie czwartej generacji oraz Lexusie UX. Umożliwia ona łatwe montowanie napędów hybrydowych, czyli coś z czego Toyota słynie od lat. A w nowej Corolli hybrydy są dwie; 1.8/140 KM i 2.0/180 KM. W ofercie jest też turbodoładowany cztercylindrowy benzynowiec 1.2/116 KM. Na wybranych rynkach i tylko w sedanie dostępne są też wolnossące benzynowe jedonstki 1.6 Valvematic/132 KM oraz trzycylindrowa 1.5 VVT-i/125 KM. Po raz pierwszy od 1979 roku w ofercie nie znalazły się żadne silniki wysokoprężne.
Powrót Corolli był bez wątpienia sporym wydarzeniem w świecie motoryzacji dowodzącym, że zwycięskiej formuły się nie zmienia. Potwierdzenie tego nadeszło w 2020 roku, kiedy Corolla po raz kolejny została najlepiej sprzedającym się nowym samochodem na świecie.
O miniaturze – Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2019
Modelik był dla mnie zupełną niespodzianką. Natknąłem się na niego przypadkiem, wertując internet w poszukiwaniu innych modeli. Choć to wersja z rynku chińskiego, to na zdjęciach nie odbiegała zbytnio od tej Europejskiej i wyglądała obiecująco. Do wyboru były dwa kolory, biały lub szary metalik. Szary prezentował się według mnie lepiej, więc po chwili zastanowienia, postanowiłem go kupić.
Kiedy Toyota Corolla Hybrid rocznik 2019 w końcu dotarła z Chin, mogłem skonfrontować zdjęcia z rzeczywistością. Rozczarowania nie było. Autko jest naprawdę dobrze zrobione! Ładny lakier, prawidłowe proporcje jak również dbałość o detale składają się na świetnie wyglądający modelik. Na zewnątrz miłym dodatkiem są odwzorowane tarcze i zaciski hamulców, w środku z kolei cieszy logo Toyoty na dotykowym ekranie.
Niestety, nie jestem w stanie stwierdzić producenta modelu. W internecie nie znalazłem żadnej informacji, a na pudełku są w większości chińskie symbole, więc nie byłem w stanie tego rozszyfrować.

The Corolla is a legendary name, recognised all over the world. Despite that, Toyota decided to ditch it in favour of the Auris. After 13 years the Japanese were finally done with experimenting. In 2019 Toyota Corolla triumphantly returned.
For the record – the Corolla only partially disappeared. From 2006 in Europe and a few other markets, the hatchback was called Auris, while the saloon retained the name Corolla. However, this was enough for the legendary name to fade in the mind of an average buyer, especially in Europe, where compact-size saloons have long fell out of favour. Together with the twelth (!) generation of its compact car, Toyota waved goodbye to the Auris. It is much simpler now – all the models are sold as Corollas. Although this wasn’t certain initially, since the pre-production model unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show still carried the name Auris. It wasn’t until a few months later when the return of the Corolla was confirmed.
The sales of the hatchback began in Japan and USA in the summer of 2018. In Europe sales started early in 2019, together with the other bodystyles; estate and saloon. Each model is slightly different in character. The hatchback is the most sporty, the estate is family-orientated while the saloon is the most elegant. Interestingly, the saloon’s design differs slightly depending on the market. In Africa, Europe, Middle East and South America the front end resembles that of the Toyota Camry, as buyers there prefer a more prestigious look. In Australia, Japan, North America and South Africa the front end is similar to the hatchback and estate, for a more sporty design. On the other hand in China, both versions are available.
Although the Corolla is a global car, Toyota claims that it designed the new generation with European buyers in mind. The company focused on improving the handling and looks both outside and inside. All following the “no more boring cars” promise.
The car is based on the TNGA-C platform, previously used on the 4th-generation Prius as well as the Lexus UX. It allows for easy fitting of hybrid powertrains, which is something Toyota has been famous for for years. There are two hybrids in the new Corolla; a 1.8/140 hp and a 2.0/180 hp. There is also a 116 hp, turbocharged, four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol unit in the line-up. Naturally-aspirated petrol units, a 1.6 Valvematic/132 hp and a three-cylinder 1.5 VVT-i/125 hp are also available on selected markets, but only in the saloon. For the first time since 1979, there are no diesels offered.
The Corolla’s return was undoubtedly quite an event in the automotive world, proving that you don’t change a winning formula. A confirmation of that came in 2020, when the Corolla once again became the best-selling new car in the world.
About the miniature – Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2019
The model car was a total surprise for me. I came across it accidentally, while browsing for other models. Although it’s a Chinese-market version, it wasn’t too different from the European and it looked quite promising on the photos. There was a choice of two colours, white and metallic grey. I thought the grey looked better so, after some thinking, I decided to buy it.
When this 2019 Toyota Corolla Hybrid finally arrived from China, I could confront the photos with reality. There certainly was no disappointment. The miniature car is done really well! Nice paintwork, correct body shape as well as attention to detail all make up a beautifully looking model car. A nice touch on the outside are the replicated brake pads and discs, whereas inside it’s the Toyota logo on the touchscreen.
Unfortunately, I don’t know the brand of the model. There was no information online and there is mostly Chinese lettering on the box ,so I was not able to figure it out.
